The Rainbow Bridge Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart. Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together.... - Anonymous
Grieve not, ~Isla Paschal Richardson ![]() Reuben, our paths first crossed when we heard about a sweet rottweiler who had been tied to a dumpster at a vet clinic over an extremely hot 4th of July week-end. From the moment we met you, we knew that you were one special dog. There was no way we could turn our backs on you, especially after the traumatic ordeal you had just endured. Someone had broken your trust, but you would not let that stop you from believing that people were good and that you were worthy of being loved. Although your life was cut way too short, you were able to find someone special to adopt you and give you the life that you deserved. Our hearts were broken when we learned that you had succumbed to cancer, but we took comfort knowing that your final time on earth was spent the way it was meant to be--being spoiled and adored. You were one-of-a-kind, Reuben Clarke. It was a true honor to have been able to help you. ![]() You were a big old dog with a gruff exterior that had spent most of his life on a chain. But inside you were really just a big baby who was afraid of storms and loud noises. You taught us to accept your quirks and embrace your beautiful spirit. You were a wonderful dog who was with us for far too short a time. We hope we made you as happy as you made us. Sweet dreams Jake. 5/31/2011 ![]() Our dear, sweet Emma Lou. You were such a good girl, and loved people so much. We were so happy when your lucky day arrived and you found your own very special forever home. We know you were spoiled rotten, and loved more than most by your adopted family, Meredith and Mike. We know you were in the best hands as you crossed over the bridge. Thank you, Emma, for being a part of our lives and making us smile everyday. ![]() To Our Dearest Rudy, On March 1st, 2011, our hearts were broken as we helped you peacefully cross over the Rainbow Bridge. We tried so hard to help you get better, but your aged body would not respond anymore to our efforts. We pray that you are now able to run free and fast and not feel the pain that had come into your life. I will never forget the day I met you. The old sled dog no one wanted. You were tied up standing in filth and head hung low. There was no way I was going to leave you in that situation. So off we went, straight to the vet to get checked out, and then a bath and then back to the sanctuary. Never once did you growl or snap. It was such a joy to see you discover the pleasures of a soft bed, daily walks/runs and of course feeding time! You LOVED other dogs so much and would run across the play yard to greet your canine buddies. Molly was your favorite. You blessed us with your sweetness and your gentle soul. We will always be grateful for having had the privilege of rescuing and caring for you. We wish it never had to end. You have been a very special gift that we will cherish forever, and we look forward to seeing you again someday. We miss you so much and love you forever.
![]() Our big, sweet Stoney. You were one of the many misunderstood dogs that came to find refuge here at the sanctuary. Just a big, goofy boy with a heart of gold. We lost you much too soon, but we know you enjoyed life up until the very end. Thank you for all you taught us. You were loved by many, Stoney. |
