Barney

One of our fabulous felines, found his forever home this past year. Barney was the first cat to wander onto the sanctuary grounds just over four years ago. He became known as “Mr. Social” and would race up to greet people who came to visit - everyone loved Barney and his outgoing personality. Barney helped many feline newcomers to the sanctuary learn that people were “ok” and that it was ok to trust two-legged giants. People came and went, but Barney always stayed - until a very special day in September when Lisa and the kids came to meet Barney. It was love at first site! Barney now has a house full of people to socialize with, and he even gets to sleep in their bed! Barney tells us it was well worth the wait!  Thanks to your help we were able to provide all the care needed for this special boy until his lucky day came when he was adopted. A special thank you to Lisa and her family for adopting Barney and giving him the loving home he long deserved.

Bronski

His past owners did not want him back because, “he couldn’t find his way home anymore”. The animal control facility where he ended up told us no one would take him because of his age. So when we were contacted about this gentle, senior lab who needed help we were on the way. One of our foster moms, Sue, met this old boy and took him into our program that very day. After a few trips to the vet and a new name, Bronski, this sweet senior was ready to find his forever home. Little did we know that Bronski had another challenge ahead of him. It wasn’t until a lump was removed that we found out about   the cancer, but the news didn’t seem to faze Bronski. He continued chasing the cats and being the, “best dog ever”, for Sue. People would inquire about adopting Bronski, but every time the word, “cancer”, was spoken the conversation ended. Then one day Charlene called inquiring about this beautiful, brown dog. She said he sounded perfect in every way, and the cancer was not an issue. Walt and Charlene adopted Bronski who now enjoys the company of their 13 yr. old yellow lab, Bonnie, and their 6 yr. old black lab, Ruger. The three canine buddies enjoy their days chasing squirrels and tennis balls. And Char says Bronski is always a “class act” and “such a blessing”. A special thank you to Sue for fostering and taking great care of Bronski until he found his forever home. And thank you so much to Walt and Char for adopting Bronski – the “unadoptable” dog.

Bella

She was rescued just in the nick of time – this young pup was about to be shot simply because she was a stray! When Bella came to Rescued Tails she immediately went into a foster home to give her time to adjust. None of us could believe how sweet and gentle Bella was after having been through such an ordeal. There was something very special about this little girl. One day while we were shopping for goodies in a pet store, Bella walked over to a little boy and quietly sat next to him and gently leaned on him. We knew at that moment Bella was a good candidate for therapy dog work. Sharon, from Hospice of the Twin Cities, contacted us and came to meet Bella. Sharon knew right away that Bella indeed had a very special gift to offer. Bella now lives the good life with Sharon and her family (including two other canine buddies) and has completed her training to be a therapy dog.
